Amy Pruss![]() Amy Pruss has always been interested in tattoos. She didn’t even know anyone who had a tattoo until she was about 15 years old. No one in her family has any, so she is not sure where she first even heard what a tattoo was. About the time she was 15 years old, friends of hers were turning 18 and getting their first tattoos. She always begged them to take her with them so she could watch them get their tattoos. Also, she would go into shops and tell them she was 18 to try to get tattooed herself, but no one fell for it. Her parents absolutely would not sign a consent form for her so she was just out of luck. But she would continue to go hang out and try to look at all the books of flash, tattoo designs in magazines and on the walls until they would kick her out for being too young. She was always drawing though since she could pick up a crayon. She does have a degree in art at UNLV since it proved to be her passion throughout her life and while she was taking art classes there she started getting tattooed. That’s when she first thought maybe this was a job she could do since she absolutely just loved tattoos. Since she also loved art it seemed like the obvious way to go. Amy spends hours everyday drawing and/or painting. Also, she loves photography. She loves doing fashion photography, and photography was the emphasis of her art degree. She really loves traditional photography with film and processing everything by hand and spending time in the darkroom. Being a tattoo artist is Amy's dream job. Her favorite part is getting to do tattoos that she has drawn up herself. Seeing her artwork come alive on someone’s skin is just a magical feeling for her. It’s a gift her clients keep with them for a lifetime. She tries her hardest on every tattoo that she does, whether it be a kanji symbol the size of a dime or a half sleeve, and she is constantly learning and drawing and trying to be the best she can be in the industry.
