Paul Johnson (a.k.a Sweet Chocolate Jesus)

Paul Johnson was born and raised in New Orleans where he started showing a great interest in art as early as elementary school. His art interest carried on through high school where he started doing murals for the city of New Orleans. He helped do a mural at the Louis Armstrong International Airport at the age of 17. He joined the Air Force at 20 years old where he then lived in Japan. While in Japan, he studied the art and culture of the country. He then got stationed at the Nellis Air Force Base where he relocated to Las Vegas in September of 2004.

So, it was the Air Force that brought Paul to Sin City and then to Lucky Cat Tattoo where he met Jerry Thomas, his inspiration to become an official tattoo artist. He has been sketching tattoos for people since he was 17 and finally decided to stop being the middleman and learn to tattoo himself. Jerry inspired Paul that tattooing is actually a lifestyle and that lifestyle was meant for Paul. Once Paul realized that tattooing was now meant to be his life, he has been training with Jerry ever since. Once he finishes his apprenticeship and works under Jerry at Lucky Cat Tattoo for a couple years, he plans to open a Lucky Cat south branch in New Orleans.

Aside from tattooing, Paul also has two amazing little girls, Kate, 7 years old and his Chloe monster, 2 years old. His hobbies include drifting, playing with his kids and paintballing. He has a great sense of humor and is also still currently attending CSN majoring in Art, of course.
